Judges Training
The Probationary Judges Training will commence in spring each year. It has recently been updated and we are looking to offer a broad based training for up and coming Judges. To find out more please contact the judges support team
The Training Modules will be as follows: -
1 Rules and Etiquette
2 Conformation (including blemishes and lameness)
3 Native Breeds
4 Ridden Horses (including Tack & Turnout)
5 Ridden Ponies
6 Rider Classes
7 Working Hunter
8 Utility Classes
There are 8 modules. All probationary Judges will be expected to attend modules 1 to 6. The working hunter and utility classes will be separate modules. All Judges are required to attend the Judges conference at least once within a two-year period or provide evidence of continual professional development in order to remain on the MIDARC Judges list. Any MIDARC list Judge is welcome to update their training and any module attended will be accredited to that Judge.
Probationary Judge – is one who is learning the trade, and should be supervised by any list Judge or senior Judge. Probationary Judges are allowed to Judge MIDARC qualifiers under supervision. Probationary Judge should not be asked or allowed to judge unsupervised.
Judge – is a Judge who has completed the original training course. They must attend at least one module or conference within a two-year period. Judges may judge MIDARC qualifiers and may supervise a probationary Judge. Any Judge with sufficient experience may apply to become a Senior Judge.
Senior Judge - A Senior Judge may work independently at any show judging MIDARC qualifiers; they may supervise any trainees and assist with the training of new Judges.
Senior Judges will be expected to attend a minimum of one Judges’ conference within a 2 year period.
