What is the Midland Association of Riding
Clubs?
The Midland Association of Riding Clubs was formed late in 1993 at a meeting
of 6 clubs at a hostelry near Bridgnorth to discuss problems that affected
all local clubs.
From this meeting, a plan was put forward for the Team Showjumping
Competition which in the first few years was run on a league basis, and each
club hosted a round each month.
The eventual first ever winners after a very close tussle with Stafford RC
and Shropshire HS was the Alvechurch RC
The Team Showjumping was re-introduced in August 2005, and although not many
clubs were able to raise teams for that date, we will be persevering with it
in 2007.
Since 1997 we have been organising the Midland Championships, a competition
which has gone from strength to strength, and in 2008 over 7000 Riders
qualified during the season at Shows run by over 30 Clubs and Committees.
2009 will see the 13th running of the Championships which will be staged
over two days again, and we are moving the show on up a notch.
The event will be held on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, 29th, 30th, 31st August
2009 at Rodbaston College, near Penkridge, Staffs. Rodbaston is very handily
situated within 10 minutes from either Junction 12 or 13 of the M6.
The Indoor Arenas on site enable us to have a programme of Evening Events
and Demonstrations on the Saturday and Sunday, and a new look schedule and
increased sponsorship will help us provide you with a very worthwhile
Championships
At present we have over 30 Clubs and Shows running qualifiers during the
summer, and we are always interested in talking to other clubs who wish to
stage our qualifiers
We do try and move the Championships around various Showgrounds,
unfortunately there are only a handful of clubs with the amenities and a
large enough ground to stage this event within a central area. |
