The Midarc Annual Merit Awards 2009

 

 

Rules and Information

1.      The Midarc Annual Merit Awards program is a cumulative points competition open to any Horse / Pony   and Rider combination.

 

2.      Each Rider must be a fully paid up member of Midarc, membership forms and other details are available by post, or by downloading from www.midarc.co.uk

 

3.      Points may be scored only at Midarc affiliated club shows

 

4.      Each Rider and Horse / Pony combination must record their points won on the Merit Award Record Sheet which may be downloaded from the web site at www.midarc.co.uk.

It will be the Riders responsibility to ensure that they fill in all the details required and have their record sheet signed by the show secretary on the day. Forms may not be backdated.

 

5.     The Awards program will run from 1st April 2009 and finish on 31st October 2009

 

6.     The Scheme will be divided into three distinct Rider age groups

            a)         Lead Rein – 8years & under as at 1st January 2009

            b)         Junior – 16yeras & under as at 1st January 2009

            c)         Senior – 17years & over as at 1st January 2009

 

7.     The Scheme Classes will be as follows

            Lead Rein

a)                   Rider – this may include Lead Rein Rider, First Ridden & Tiny Tots Classes

b)                  Pony – this may include Lead Rein Pony or Lead Rein Mountain & Moorland

 

Junior

a)                   Rider – this may include Junior Rider (Novice or Open), Tiny Tots

b)                  Pony – this may include Riding Pony (Novice or Open), Small Mountain & Moorland, Show Hunter Pony or any Working Hunter Pony Class, Veteran, Coloured Pony

 

            Senior

a)                   Rider – this to be Senior Rider (Novice or Open)

b)                  Horse – this may include Riding Horse (Novice or Open), Ridden Hunter, Coloured,

Veteran or any Working Hunter Horse Class

 

            Dressage

a)                   Walk & Trot

b)                  Junior Dressage

c)                   Novice Dressage

d)                  Young Rider Dressage

e)                  Open Dressage

 

        Showjumping

a)                   Junior Novice    –          to include all classes up to and including Novice Pony

b)                  Junior Open      –          to include all classes after Novice Pony

c)                   Senior Novice   –          to include all classes up to and including Novice Horse

d)                  Senior Open     –          to include all classes after Novice Horse

 

In Hand Showing

a)                   Specialist Breeds          – to include Welsh, Shetlands, Mountain & Moorland, Arabs

b)                  Utility Breeds                – to include Best Turnout, Stallions, Driving Types, Any other Breeds,          Young & Senior Handlers etc

 

8.     Other Awards

            At the Merit Awards Evening, (date and venue to be arranged) there will also be prizes for

Lead Rein Champion, Junior Ridden Showing Champion, Senior Ridden Showing Champion, Dressage Champion, Junior Showjumping Champion, Senior Showjumping Champion
and the Midarc Merit Awards Overall Champion

 

Each scheme class winner will receive the Midarc Trophy and a Champion Rosette, there will a Reserve Winners Shield and Rosettes to 6th place in all scheme classes

 

For the Champion awards there will be a Midarc Trophy and Reserve Shield only

 

9.     Merit Award Points

            Points will be awarded as follows in each class competed
            1st place – 15pts            2nd place – 12pts           3rd place – 10pts           4th place – 8pts

            5th place – 6pts 6th place – 4pts

 

10.    Bonus Points

Every week, we will announce which show is a Bonus Points Show, you will be able to view which shows these are by visiting the www.midarc.co.uk website

            At each Bonus Show, you may double up the points you win in each class

 

11.    Keeping your record

We think this is quite simple, but if you have any problems with this, please notify us and we will try and assist you.

We will be running a placing table on the web site, so if you wish to be included, please update us on a regular basis so that we can update your results

At the close of the season, all Record Sheets should be returned by the 21st November 2009, we will then update the tables for final placings and announce the winners by the 15th December 2009.

 

12.    Judges and Show Scoring

You will notice that on your record sheet there is a space to record your points for the judge on the day, and also the show ie: best showground, secretary and overall show.

We suggest you fill these in after you have had your scores signed for, as this part does not need to be signed, this is your opinion, and will help us award the Best Judge, Best Show, Best Showground and Best Secretary. These points will be out of 10

 

13.     Award Winners

Prize winners should attend the Merit Awards Evening to collect their prizes. Failure to attend may mean that your prizes will be withheld

 

14.    Midarc reserve the right to refuse any entry to the Merit Awards without giving a reason

 

15.    Queries on Points and Awards

We are quite happy to answer any queries on awards, placings and points, and as per our usual Championship qualifiers these will be subject to random checking.

If you are going to forward allegations regarding someone else’s eligibility, then it is your responsibility to provide all the information needed to prove the allegation

The final date for receiving any queries will be 22nd December 2009, after which date, all results and awards will remain as stated
